Court Referred Life Skills
Recovery & Prevention Resources partners with other community resources to provide prevention programming
for indicated populations that are at significant risk for substance use.
The objective of the Court Referred Life Skills program is to increase participants’ ability to succeed
through goal setting and making healthy choices. Specifically, participants develop and implement personal and
vocational goals and action plans to address their goals, and learn and practice communication, anger management,
and healthy relationship skills.
In FY 2005, 25 adolescents participated in the program.
- 80% of the youth in the program completed a plan about personal and educational/vocational goals
- 76% incurred no new arrests or probation violations for 6 months after the completion of the program
- 60% demonstrated above average communication skills
- 52% demonstrated above average anger management skills
- 52% demonstrated above average skills for building healthy relationships
- 44% demonstrated above average stress management skills
